SpelQuiz is a FREEWARE 10-word spelling test program that lets you make any number of spelling tests with a simple test definition file where you record a wave file for each word.

A student can practice each spelling list over and over. Feedback is given immediately at the end of the test. When the "test" is given, the student can print out the completed and graded test for their records.

SpelQuiz is written very simply to make it easy to install and use. You may need to learn how to record wave files using Sound Recorder that comes with Windows95(TM). (Kids can do this, too!) Use Notepad to make the test file. The test file has twenty entries, each on a separate line. The first line has the word correctly spelled (watch for extra spaces before the next line) and the second line has the name (or path and name) of the wave file that recites the word.

You can open a spelling test all the usual ways, with the File Open command, by dragging a test icon onto the SpelQuiz.exe icon in explorer, and from the command line or shortcut entry: SpelQuiz testname.tst

sample.tst is the default test file.

vb40032.dll is required, and not included in the zip file. If you don't happen to have it, you can download it off the net.

Constructive feedback is welcome at joelc@epix.net
